DENTAL IMPLANTS
Advanced Procedures, Caring Hands & Exceptional Results That Will Last A Lifetime
The Benefits of Dental Implants
According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, approximately 3 million people receive 5.5 million implants each year in the United States; this number is growing by an additional 500,000 more patients each year.
Dental Implants Are The Most Beneficial & Advanced Option for Replacing Missing Teeth
- IMPROVED APPEARANCE. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent.
- IMPROVED SPEECH. With poor-fitting dentures, the teeth can slip within the mouth causing you to mumble or slur your words. Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip.
- IMPROVED COMFORT. Because they become part of you, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures.
- EATING IS ENJOYABLE. Dentures interfere with chewing, making eating difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favorite foods with confidence and without pain.
- IMPROVED SELF ESTEEM. Dental implants can give you back your smile and help you feel better about yourself.
- DURABILITY. Implants are very durable and will last many years. With good care, many implants last a lifetime.
- CONVENIENCE. Removable dentures are just that; removable. Dental implants eliminate the embarrassing inconvenience of removing dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place.
Dentures & Bridges vs. Dental Implants
Dental Implants Offer Less Collateral Damage. Prior to dental implants, if you lost a single tooth, the surgeon would have to sacrifice the 2 adjacent teeth to use them as anchors to bridge the tooth. Dental implants offer less collateral damage: a single-tooth implant. When considering benefits, function and long-term success, Dental Implants are by far the best method of replacing teeth.
Dental Implants Are Life Changing
Full and partial dentures have their shortcomings; dentures must be removed and cleaned regularly to avoid infections or disease, including bad breath. Cheap or improperly fitting dentures may be uncomfortable and can move around in the mouth, causing pain and chewing difficulties. And for those who have replaced their missing teeth with permanent bridges attached to natural teeth, you may not have as many functional issues compared to dentures, but in the long term, you may find that even these bridges have problems and or fail due to decay, gum disease or fracture.
Dental implants are placed securely into the patient’s jawbone ~ acting as natural teeth ~ which eliminates all of the aforementioned issues.
Dental Implants Improve Oral Health
Dental implants do not require the reduction of adjacent teeth, and since nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, your healthy teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health. Individual implants also allow easier access to brush and floss between teeth, improving oral hygiene. Without an implant, there are many side effects including the loss of the jawbone and shifting of surrounding teeth; all of which greatly reduce chewing ability. The success rate of Dental Implants is 98%. Implants are one of the most beneficial procedures available in dentistry to preserve your teeth.
DEMYSTIFYING DENTAL IMPLANTS
+ A Step-by-Step Guide to the Dental Implant Process
Dr. Kur continues to be a leader in the advancements & techniques in the area of Dental Implants. In a recently published an article in Phelps Magazine, Dr. Kur sheds light on the misconceptions associated with dental implants.
Because dental implants require one or more surgical procedures, Dr. Kur will do a thorough evaluation to prepare for the implantation process.
The process in which dental implant surgery is performed and the healing timeframe depends on the type of implant and the condition of your jawbone. A number of factors are taken into account; the number of teeth needed to be replaced, the health of your oral tissue and the condition of your jawbone. The major benefit of implants is solid support for your new teeth — a process that requires the bone to heal tightly around the implant.
Dr. Kur will perform the majority of his cases in one surgical visit;
extraction, reconstruction and implant placement.
In some instances, the patient may have a General Dentist place a temporary crown simultaneously, in other circumstances the implant(s) may require 3 months of full integration, and then you will be ready for the General Dentist to restore the implants. Dr. Kur works closely with the restorative dentist to ensure continuity of care and predictable results.
Consultation + Treatment Plan
The first step in the dental implant process is the development of an individualized treatment plan. The plan addresses your specific needs and is prepared by Dr. Kur and his team of professionals who are specially trained and experienced in oral surgery and restorative dentistry. This team approach provides coordinated care based on the implant option that is best for you.
Extraction + Preparation
Dr. Kur will extract the damaged tooth and your jawbone is prepared for surgery; a process that may involve bone grafting.
The Titanium Implant
The next step is to implant a titanium post. The implant itself is a titanium post that Dr. Kur screws into the bone socket of the missing tooth. After insertion and as the jawbone heals, the tissues grow around the implanted post, securing themselves in a process called osseointegration. This creates a more stable and secure anchor for the crown.
The Abutment & Crowning Jewel
Once the implant has bonded to the jawbone, a small connector post called an abutment is placed over the top of the implant to securely hold the new tooth. A new tooth will be created by making an impression of your teeth and creating a model of your bite (capturing all of your teeth, their type, and arrangement). The new tooth or teeth is based on this model. A color-match of the new tooth will be done so it blends in with the natural color of your teeth. The new tooth, called a crown, is then attached to the abutment.
In Summary
Local anesthesia can be used during the procedure, and most patients report that implants involve less pain than a tooth extraction. Most people who have received dental implants say that there is very little discomfort involved in the procedure. After the dental implant, mild soreness can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications, such as Tylenol or Motrin.
Caring For Your Dental Implants
Dental Implants require the same care as real teeth, including brushing, flossing, rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash, and regular dental check-ups. With proper care, implants can last a lifetime.
Putting Your Mouth In The Right Hands Is The Key To A Successful Outcome
Only 10% of all US Dental Specialists place implants, which is a small population of Oral Surgeons.

Dr. Kur and his staff made my experience truly wonderful. I was in such excruciating pain until I couldn’t function. They performed an emergency extraction on my wisdom tooth. I felt much better after my surgery. The office is clean and very comfortable. Obviously no one wants to have a tooth removed, however, if you need to have this procedure done, then I would definitely recommend this practice.

He made sure I was totally comfortable throughout the surgery. His staff was equally compassionate. Dr. Kur followed up with a phone call in the evening to make sure I was doing well. He is an excellent doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is in need of oral surgery.

Dr. Kur and his staff are fantastic. Unfortunately, my son, age 6, had to have one of his molars removed. Great experience!

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Kur, and all of his staff. Very friendly, very professional, and very clean facility! I was recommended by my dentist to have some of my wisdom teeth removed, and they made it a priority to make sure I felt welcomed and was comfortable with every step of the procedure. I had some back and forth issues with my insurance company regarding my initial appointment, and they went the extra mile to work around those issues and explore alternative solutions. The go-to place for dental surgery, especially for first timers!

I got two extractions and a post put in a couple months ago and it was so painless and the recovery was super fast and I didn’t need the pain meds at all! Even my regular dentist couldn’t believe I just got it done a week ago. Dr. Kur is fast friendly and to the point. I like that. He put me at ease on my concerns and even better he was right. Some say he’s a little pricey but he’s worth every penny. I believe in you get what you pay for and when I went to a cheaper place I ended up in a horror show and my recovery took forever. The place is clean. All the staff from the front desk to the back are friendly and professional and don’t make you feel like a number. Whoever you deal with there is great. Dr. Kur is awesome. If he runs for president I’m voting for him. If I wasn’t broke I’d mess up more of my teeth so he could fix them. Honestly, can’t say enough good things about him or his staff. Just go there, you won’t be sorry!!!!

I had a tooth that imploded under the gum line. I had been told to just leave it alone by another dentist. I knew something was wrong, and my primary care physician referred me to Dr. Kur for a second opinion. Dr. Kur advised removal of the tooth and an implant. Everything was done in three appointments. I have had no problems. I completely trust Dr. Kur and would not hesitate to contact him in the future.
